PharmaBro: An American Douchical! is running Off-Broadway with a limited engagement, six week run at the Players Theatre from May 11th – June 18th, 2017. Formerly titled Martin Shkreli’s Game, the musical had its world premiere in July 2016 with a sold-out run at the Workshop Theatre in Midtown Manhattan, and has received critical acclaim Off-Broadway.

PharmaBro is about – you guessed it – “pharma bro” Martin Shkreli, the ex-Pharmaceuticals CEO who raised the price of Daraprim by 5000% and will be facing trial on June 26th, 2017 – eight days after the show closes.

The show satirizes Shkreli’s bizarre purchase of a certain one-of-a-kind hip-hop album, and the ensuing heist by said hip-hop group to get it back. It is a timely examination of corporate greed, the American Dream gone wrong, the influence of the media, and the importance of art. Shkreli is very much an ambassador of Trump’s America (he even pledged to release the album if Trump won, but then of course didn’t) – and this show gives the audience a chance to root against Shkreli and all that he represents, while tapping their toes to some fun, catchy tunes.
I mean, who doesn’t want to watch Shkreli ride around on a hoverboard and get his ass handed to him?

Los Angeles, CA (May 31, 2017)—Recording artist, Brazilian ju-jitsu black belt, world champion and star of long-running Showtime hit TV series, Gigolos, has released his powerful, new single and music video, “I Can Take a Punch,” and to celebrate is embarking on a media tour of Los Angeles this week, culminating in a rare, live performance at Le Jardin on Friday, June 2 at 11:30pm.

The new single, “I Can Take a Punch,” released on Memorial Day, is about bullying and unwarranted, unacceptable harassing-attacks. His brother Ryan and actress Michelle Maylene both play roles of victims in these attacks, showing that if you stand up for yourself these attackers will no longer exist. Hawk went back to his roots, in Wisconsin, to film most of the scenes. He shot in the very locations where he got into fights in his youth. Although much of Hawk's video is a metaphor, he relived taking the physical punches, as he spits blood and knocks himself to the ground. The video is littered with beautiful shots with Madison's capital building in the background. It also has shots of Hawk doing some knocking down of his own, at Robert Drysdale's jiu-jitsu academy, as he showcases an array of vicious takedowns and submissions on two of his teammates.

“This video was shot in my hometown, in places where I got into fights and got knocked down, when I was growing up,” says Hawk. “I want to thank my brother Ryan, Michelle Maylene, Arin, Antonio, Robert Drysdale and everyone who ever knocked me down. And I want to thank my fans for their continued support, don’t ever give up, keep fighting.”

The message of “I Can Take a Punch,” goes deep to the core of anyone who has had to defend their right to be the person they choose to be. “If we do not allow people to attack us, if we stand up for ourselves and accept who we are, these people will not exist. Be confident and free,” says Hawk.

I was born on September 3, 1981 in Madison, Wisconsin as Nicholas Haas. Having little money and scared of my own shadow motivated me to become confident and successful. On June 3rd, 2017, the Frederick County Fairgrounds will feature some of the nation’s top comics for the “Laugh till it Hurts” Comedy Show, featuring Kountry Wayne, veteran comic, media personality and host of WPGC’s morning show Joe Clair, Timmy Hall AKA “The Comic Cop,” and hosted by local favorite Eddie Bryant. The comedy show event will take place in the Null Building @ The Frederick County Fairgrounds. The party kicks off at 6:00 P.M. Following the next weekend on June 10th, 2017, the Frederick County Fairgrounds will host the inaugural Maryland Music, Crab & Wine Festival. The event will combine some of the DMV’s best music talent along with a feast for the ages in a fun-filled environment. Entertainment includes the Chuck Brown Band, the Earth, Wind and Fire Tribute Band, Secret Society, Be’la Dona, and the Marcus & Marcus Jazz Band.

Adding to the musical delights will be an all-you-can-eat crab feast for VIP guests along with a soul food buffet and a fleet of food trucks offering additional variety in the on-ground food options.
