Seattle, Washington acoustic blues-pop singer-songwriter and guitarist, Phillip Broussard has released his debut EP. Broussard is a 2-tour Navy Veteran.

Broussard's voice is as smooth as silk

— Markos Papadatos, Digital Journal

SEATTLE, WA, UNITED STATES, January 22, 2018 / — "Strong melodies, passionate playing, soulful vocals and plenty of pop appeal" – Middle Tennessee Music

"Phillip Broussard sculpts a soulful sound that comes straight from the heart" – Beach Sloth

"Broussard's voice is as smooth as silk" – Markos Papadatos, Digital Journal

Born and raised in Washington State, Phillip Broussard discovered his passion early in life, when his father brought home a guitar. His father's original intention was to play the guitar himself, but he soon found Phillip picking up the guitar, when he didn't think anyone was watching. Phillip grew up under the influence of his father's favorites, Pink Floyd, James Taylor, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton. What started as just a few chords, ignited a desire to share his new found passion with the world.

Then, tragedy struck at 18 years old, when Phillip's father, grandfather and uncle passed away within 6 months of each other.

Phillip put down his guitar and enlisted in the United States Navy, in an attempt to quell his grief. Early on in his Naval career, someone handed Phillip a copy of John Mayer's cd, "Room for Squares". This album reignited Phillip's passion for the guitar. In 2007, Phillip deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. During this time, he refined his guitar skills…

Now, MTS Management Group and MTS Records is proud to announce the release of Phillip Broussard's debut EP, "Wavelength" (MTS Records). Released on the anniversary of his father's birthday, the 5-song collection featuring Broussard's stripped-down acoustic guitar and solo vocals is dedicated to the memory of Phillip's dad. "Wavelength" features the New Music Weekly chart single, "Just Wanna Believe." The EP is available in digital music stores and streaming services worldwide.

"Wavelength" is the first new release by MTS Records, since signing a distribution deal with Symphonic Distribution.

What is real and what is not? | HASHTAG The Virtual Shrew

TOTTENHAM, UNITED KINGDOM, January 22, 2018 / — What is real and what is not?
One person’s reality is another’s fantasy. In “I’m Coming to Get You” we see the reality of the witch Hashtag and the elegant prince who is the object of her lustful ambitions. Illustrated in a Halloween like landscape, it isn’t quite clear how the prince stumbles across Hashtag’s castle. In scenes reminiscent of the “Rocky Horror Picture Show”, we see him peering through the window at a primping, preening old lady in front of the mirror. The reflected image in the mirror is perceived by her as the most beautiful luscious maiden, whereas he sees a haggard, wrinkly old witch. She soon realises that in order to win him over she’ll have to resort to the ancient craft of potion making. After all, in her own eyes she is the beautiful princess, a well deserving match for Mr, Handsome. In his eyes she is a loathsome, ancient hag well past her sell-by-date.

With false promises she entices him to return to her lair, but nothing changes his view of how she looks. He is intrigued though by the mystery of her witchcraft and promises to return. In desperation to make herself attractive to him she searches through her book of spells for the ancient art of alchemy. She sets out on her broomstick with her trusted familiar, Batch a sleek black cat to find the ingredients of a potent love potion.

Meanwhile, the curious prince arrives with his suitcase and enters her chambers.

Not wanting to risk his escape however, Hashtag locks him in a Hansel & Gretel cage while she mutters her incantations trying to force her view of reality onto his, resulting in a chase of dreams into nightmares.

Former Montrose lead singer and event producer, Keith St John says new iconic names are being added to the line-up literally every day. St John was with Montrose for the last 13 years of Ronnie's life. The band was on top of the charts in the 1970s when Sammy Hagar was vocalist, with tunes like Rock Candy, Bad Motor Scooter and Rock the Nation. When St John teamed up with Montrose they continued to entertain until right before his death, filling clubs and festivals around the world. St John wrote many unreleased tunes with Ronnie Montrose, some performed at concerts throughout the years.

After a long battle with cancer, it has been almost six years since Montrose ended his life and St John wants the guitar greats' legend to continue. "Ronnie's contribution to rock music in the early 70's heavily influenced the up and coming American rock guitarists for next two decades more than he probably ever realized or gave himself credit for. I just want to give those who really appreciate Ronnie the chance to get together in a loving dynamic concert setting where we can really dig in and enjoy each other through the commonality of his music," St John remarks.

One of the event's featured guitar players, Tracii Guns of L.A Guns and Guns N' Roses, says this about Montrose: "I grew up listening to Ronnie from a very young age, and I honestly would like to say that in all sincerity the Montrose song Rock Candy is approximately one third of my entire style of guitar playing. The very first time I saw him play was on the Midnight Special TV show back in the early 70's. The bands raw energy blew me away! Getting to play that song last year with Keith St John, who nails that song with an energy that magically captures the vibe they created it with in the 70’s, was a total thrill and my dream come true as a guitar player. This January 27th is destined to be another celebration of pure Ronnie magic. I can't wait!"

Updates to the performer list are being made daily at the event's website and on the event's Facebook page.

Neil Tatar, ZMR’s Best New Artist of 2015, Returns with Original Piano and Guitar Recordings in AFTER THE RAIN

After the Rain album cover art

After the Rain is a Rhythmically Eclectic Follow-Up to Tatar’s #1 ZMR Airplay Chart Hit, Learning To Fly

New album features guest performances by co-producers Will Ackerman and Tom Eaton, plus Charlie Bisharat, Tony Levin, Premik Russell Tubbs and Eugene Friesen.

Each of my compositions comes from a place deep inside, and usually originate from an emotion, a life experience, or a remembrance…”

— Neil Tatar

QUEENSBURY, NEW YORK, USA, January 19, 2018 / — Over the past few decades, the new age genre has produced its share of brilliant pianists and acoustic guitar artists, but none have combined the two core instruments on single recordings as effortlessly and dynamically as Neil Tatar. Continuing the multi-faceted, melodically and rhythmically eclectic vibes that earned him a Zone Music Reporter (ZMR) honor as Best New Artist of 2015, the Upstate New York-based composer and multi-instrumentalist returned to Will Ackerman’s famed Imaginary Road Studios to record his highly-anticipated follow-up album, After The Rain. The self-released album has already topped Amazon's Hot New Releases (New Age), garnered a mention in The Huffington Post, and received a nomination for a RoundGlass Music Award for "When I Was Young." The album officially launches today, with all information and listening links at

“Each of my compositions comes from a place deep inside, and usually originate from an emotion, a life experience, or a remembrance,” Tatar says. “Initially, I find myself playing a brief musical phrase, or ‘sketch’ that can develop quickly or linger for months, coming back when it is ready to inform me of its significance. This process follows a creative path that offers a composition’s meaning to me, and culminates with the end product, a finished piece. I do this purely as a creative process, minimizing all logical thought, no scoring or scripting, just freedom and flow of playing, until it is ready to take form and to record in the studio.”

Early reviews are excellent, referring to After the Rain as "a masterpiece" and "warm, soothing" and even "hypnotic." In listening, one senses that this may be Tatar’s most personal musical effort yet, and one in which his Tai Chi background and performance gel into a heart-based musical meditation. Tatar says he composes and plays intuitively, without an overriding vision in mind, organically sharing different aspects of his personality. Some fans see his elegant, introspective piano pieces as a link to his heart and soul, while his guitar pieces tap into a more playful side.

After The Rain is a compelling collection of beautifully rendered ensemble pieces that showcase both sides of Tatar’s intricate artistry. One of the most striking piano compositions is the stark, haunting “Rush Pond,” which was inspired by the place he often finds his inspiration. The graceful opening piece “Gentle Steps” is a meditative piece, filled with a sense of patience, a reflection upon life’s most meaningful experiences. With “Freedom” (featuring Jill Haley on English Horn), Tatar reaches out with a call to end oppression for suffering people worldwide. To highlight a few of the soulful and inviting guitar pieces on After The Rain, there is the spirited, tempo-shifting “Sunsets,” featuring interactions with saxophone and dancing violin; the warm and sensual “When I Was Young” with its mood-elevating duality of sax and guitar; and the freewheeling, folksy and jazzy closing piece “Sidewalk Jam.”

Like its predecessor, After The Rain is co-produced by Tatar, Ackerman (who also plays guitar) and Ackerman’s renowned production partner Tom Eaton, who contributes piano and keyboard parts. Testament to the commercial impact and creative influence Tatar has achieved in only a few years as a recording artist, the 10-track collection also features key musical contributions from an ensemble of musical greats, including Charlie Bisharat (violin), Premik Russell Tubbs (sax and EWI), Tony Levin (NS and electric bass), Jeff Oster (flugelhorn), Jill Haley (English horn) Jeff Haynes (percussion) and Eugene Friesen (cello). Vocalists Noah Wilding and Lini Marcotte Tatar add emotional depth to some of the instrumental tracks.

Awareness of Tatar’s talent among New Age fans heightened in 2013 with Where Did The Time Go, his duet album with Grammy-winning cellist David Darling, which received stellar reviews and reached the #1 ranking worldwide on the ZMR Top 100 Global Airplay chart in 2015; it was also a finalist for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album of 2015. Later that year, Tatar’s next album, Learning to Fly, landed on the Grammy ballot for Best New Age album, reached #1 on the ZMR Top 100 Radio Airplay chart and was selected as a finalist for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album of 2015. In May 2016, Tatar was honored by Zone Music Reporter as Best New Artist of 2015, an award presented by broadcasters, reviewers and radio programmers worldwide.

Even more gratifying than awards is simply knowing that his music has touched someone’s life. Tatar recently celebrated the addition of his music to the C.A.R.E. Channel (Healing HealthCare Systems), which supplies music and visuals to 900 hospitals, clinics, medical offices, and residential care facilities in the U.S. and abroad. He also helps others develop their musicality through his workshops with Music For People, which are improvisational and playful, exploring and revealing new skills and inspirations in each participant.

After the Rain is available in both digital and physical format, the latter a gift-worthy six-panel digipak bearing the apt description “Peaceful, Reflective Instrumental Music.” The album is available via all quality online music sites, as well as in mainstream and specialty music stores; physical distribution is serviced by CPI Distribution and New Leaf Distribution. Neil Tatar is an ASCAP artist.

NEW YORK, NY, USA, January 18, 2018 / — Vocalists Sandra Moon, Mary Thorne and Anna Tonna will join forces with pianist Max Lifchitz in an intimate celebration of the Art Song as practiced by Latino Composers during the last 100 years.

The soiree — part of the Composers Now Festival — will highlight intriguing and stimulating song cycles penned by composers originally from Cuba and Mexico who have resided and flourished artistically in New York City. Vocal works by Carlos Chavez and Max Lifchitz (from Mexico) as well as Jorge Martin and Julian Orbon (from Cuba) will be featured.

The free-admission event will be held at the National Opera Center's Marc A. Scorca Hall located at 330 Seventh Ave (FL 7) in New York City. The auditorium is ADA accessible. The concert will start at 8 PM and end around 9:30 PM. No tickets required.

The three vocalists and Mr. Lifchitz are available for media events and interviews and may be contacted through the North/South office.

The event is possible in part with public funds granted by the NYS Council on the Arts and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs as well as gifts from many generous donors.

Soprano Sandra Moon has sung on stages throughout the world. At the Metropolitan Opera she sang several roles under the baton of James Levine and next to Renée Fleming. With over 100 roles in her repertoire Sandra has sung on the stages of Vienna, Munich, Chicago, Carnegie Hall, Zürich, among others. In addition to her vocal repertoire, she has performed the role of Maria Callas in Terrence McNally’s Tony Award winning play, Master Class.

Soprano Mary Thorne has been praised by the press as an “engaging soloist, bright and agile” and for her “knowing sexiness, effortless coloratura runs and solid acting skills.” Frequently heard in Mozart roles, she has appeared with the Amore and Amato Opera companies, Hubbard Hall Opera Theater, the Bronx Opera, Opera Company of Brooklyn, and New York Metro Vocal Arts Ensemble. Last season’s highlights include joining New York City Opera in Aleko/Pagliacci at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater.

“A born star who effectively stole the show” is how the press describes mezzo-soprano Anna Tonna. Her performances have been depicted as “…full of charm and magnetism with her dark, compact lyric mezzo-soprano ideally suited for the flamenco-like vocal flourishes of Spanish music.” Well known for her commitment to the music of Spain and Latin America, Ms. Tonna was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study and perform in Spain upon her graduation from the Mannes College of Music.

Pianist Max Lifchitz has appeared on concert stages throughout Europe, Latin America and the US. The San Francisco Chronicle described him as "a stunning, ultra-sensitive pianist" while the New York Times praised him for his "clean, measured and sensitive performances." Lifchitz appears as collaborative artist and conductor in over fifty compact disc albums, including nine widely praised solo albums featuring piano music from the Americas.

Carlos Chavez (1899-1978) is one of Latin America’s best-known composers. A powerful figure in the cultural life of Mexico, his innovative research into the musical traditions of pre-Columbian cultures provided Mexican artists with a new sense of identity and brought an unprecedented international visibility to Mexican music. The program will feature the first US performance of his earliest vocal compositions grouped under the title of Cinco Poemas (Five Poems). Written in 1921, these songs were recently unearthed and edited for publication by Max Lifchitz. Eminently romantic in spirit, the songs are based on poems in French, German and Portuguese by the19th century writers Victor Hugo, Heinrich Heine and Jose Asuncion Silva.

Max Lifchitz started his musical education in his native Mexico City before moving to New York to study with Luciano Berio at The Juilliard School. His song cycle Forget Me Not was inspired by poetry of the 19th century American writer Lillian E. Curtis. The recently completed composition consists of four contrasting songs that deal with descriptions of nature as well as feelings of loss, euphoria and gaiety.

Jorge Martin (b. 1959 in Santiago de Cuba) has lived in the US since 1965. He studied at Yale and Columbia University and has received fellowships from the Cintas and Bogliasco Foundations as well as an award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. His one-act opera Tobermory won first prize in the National Opera Association's Fifth Biennial Chamber Opera Competition while his full-length opera Before Night Falls — based on the 1992 autobiography of Cuban writer Reinaldo Arenas — was given its world premiere at the Fort Worth Opera. Martin's A Cuban in Vermont is a collection of five affable and witty songs inspired by the composer's longing for Cuba while residing in Vermont.

Julian Orbon (1925-1991) was praised by Aaron Copland as "Cuba's most gifted composer of the new generation." Born in Spain, Orbon's family settled in Cuba in 1940 where he studied with Jose Ardevol, joining him as a co-founder of a Cuban school of composers, Grupo de Renovacion Musical. An invitation from Carlos Chavez to join the faculty of Mexico's National Conservatory provided him with the opportunity to leave Cuba in 1960. In 1964 Orbón moved to New York City where he taught composition at Barnard College and the Hispanic Institute of Columbia University.
Orbon's Libro de Cantares (Book of Ancient Songs) is an extended song cycle based on folk melodies from the Asturias province of Spain. The work was written in 1987 and is Orbon's very last composition.
